What adjustments should I make when fishing in the rain?

If you fish enough, eventually you will find yourself fishing in the rain. Maybe you went out on a cloudy day, and by the end of the day, it is drizzling but, that should not stop you from fishing. Whats great about fishing in the rain, is it often alleviates the fishing pressure from other fisherman as a majority will usually just pack it in.

When the rain starts, it definitely affects how the fish behave. While rain is usually not a sought after conditions since you need to be rain gear, it can definitely improve the bite as they become more active. They will go to greater distances to chase a lure and because of that, baits that cover water go up on the tier list. With the start of the rain, It is a good idea to change from 1 bait to another even if that 1 bait was catching fish before the rain started. With cloudy weather bass will roam more for their food instead of sticking close to cover in high sunny days. Most pros suggest starting with a fishing a moving bait quickly to cover water. Start focusing on the shallow areas instead of out deep when the rain starts.
